Flag Sr. is the father of Rick Flag Jr., who fans might remember from “The Suicide Squad.” Peacemaker and Flag Jr. faced off with one another, leading to the hero being killed by Peacemaker.
Now, his father is back to seek revenge for the death of his son. The man playing Flag Sr. is none other than former MCU star Frank Grillo. Grillo famously played Crossbones in multiple Marvel films, but he is now part of the DC Universe under James Gunn.

Grillo has appeared in a ton of movies and shows through the years, which is probably why he may not know everything about every project he is, including the stars of said project.
In fact, Grillo made a shocking admission that he had no clue who John Cena is, until he joined the cast of “Peacemaker.”
Grillo spoke to GQ about his entrance in the DCU, how comics have impacted his life since the Palisades fires, and how he has connected with his sons on everything superheroes.
Despite the multitude of comics he has with his son, Grillo admitted to his son that he had no idea who Cena was.
“I did Creature Commandos with him [Gunn], and he said, ‘I want you to do Peacemaker,’and I was shooting Tulsa King and I said, ‘They’re both in Atlanta, so if they can work the dates out, I’m down.’ But I had never seen Peacemaker. I didn’t know who the f*** John Cena was. I asked my son, ‘Is John Cena a big wrestler?’ He goes, ‘You’re stupid.'”
Grillo admits that he had no clue who Cena was, but the sheer size of the star led him to ask his son if he is a wrestler, which led to him being roasted by said son.
To Grillo’s credit, he is a busy actor, so it wouldn’t be out of the realm of possbility that he does have no clue who Cena was. However, the fact that Cena has been the biggest wrestler for decades, and is now a full-fledged movie and TV star, it’s shocking that Grillo had not heard of him.
Either way, the pair are surely acquainted now, having filmed an entire season of the hit DC shows together.
