Bryson DeChambeau is undeniably one of the best golfers on the planet. He is a two-time U.S. Open champion and nearly captured his first Masters title last month.

He played in the final round with Rory McIlroy, looking to edge out the World No. 2 on that fateful Sunday.

Ultimately, McIlroy bested DeChambeau and the rest of the field to complete the career grand slam.

With the season’s second major championship on tap this week, DeChambeau was asked his thoughts on squaring off with McIlroy once again.

“I do believe you have to have a lot of distance out here,” DeChambeau said of Quail Hollow, site of the 2025 PGA Championship.

“Rory is a great driver of the golf ball and his iron play is great too. I think it’s a golf course that sets up for his shot shapes pretty well and I think it sets up for mine too.”

Indeed, Quail Hollow fits McIlroy’s eye quite nicely. He has won here four times throughout his prestigious career.

“I am certainly going to give it my all. Hopefully we have another go at it again like at the Masters,” said DeChambeau.

The LIV golfer actually held an early lead during that final round at Augusta National. But a couple of ill-timed double bogeys derailed his chances.

Last year, the U.S. Open was decided between the two goliaths in the sport as well.

McIlroy missed a couple of short putts on the back nine Sunday at Pinehurst No. 2. That opened the door for DeChambeau, who played beautiful golf down the stretch to wrestle the title away.

At the time, it was viewed as another choke job from McIlroy which left many to wonder if he would ever win another major again.

Fast forward 11 months, and the conversation has shifted to how many he will win.

There are so many incredibly storylines in golf at this year’s PGA Championship. World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler has regained form, making history at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson.

Jordan Spieth is looking to join McIlroy as the seventh man to complete the career grand slam this week.

But it is hard to argue that there are two golfers playing better right now than McIlroy and DeChambeau.

McIlroy has three wins in 2025 already, namely the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-am, the PLAYERS Championship and the Masters. Meanwhile, DeChambeau earned a win at LIV Golf Korea a couple of weeks ago after several top-5 finishes.

Both men enter Quail Hollow as two of the betting favorites. Will golf fans be treated to another duel between them? Only time will tell.
