The frustration of losing the Corales Puntacana Championship almost on the last hole quickly passed for Joel Dahmen. It so happens that the player has much more important things to occupy his emotions.
Dahmen was a guest on “The Dan Show” podcast hosted by Dan Rapaport, where he talked about his family, among other things. When asked by Rapaport about a possible expansion of the family, Dahmen revealed that it will indeed happen very soon.
“I guess this might be the time and place for it, Dan, we are pregnant,” Dahmen said.
The PGA Tour winner confirmed that this new baby didn’t come exactly without trying, but it was still a surprise for him and his wife, Lona.
“We were supposed to be done”, Dahmen said. “We had to go through IVF for the first one, struggled having another one through IVF and this one is a little miracle baby.”
“I mean we knew what we were doing, it wasn’t like this random accident, like a high school deal but we just didn’t think it was possible, and it’s quite the surprise.”
Dahmen added that he and his wife were so convinced that they would not have more children that they began preparing for a new stage in their family.
“We were starting to give away a lot of our baby stuff…we we added a dog to our family in December, which means you’re also done having kids, because you can’t have a baby and a puppy, it’s a nightmare, and here we are, going through it all.”
“So we’re super excited, the baby’s due in November. We don’t know what it is, but yeah, to the world out there, Dahmen baby number two is coming.”
Dahmen and Lona welcomed their first child, Riggs William, in January of 2023. The name is probably why Rapaport joked about the new baby’s name in his X post:
“The question now is, does Joel name is second child Trent?” Rapaport posted.
The joke is that Riggs and Trent are two of the hosts of the popular golf YouTube show Fore Play, which Rapaport worked on for several years. Dahmen is a regular and popular guest on the show.
The 37-year-old earned his PGA Tour membership in 2017. In 222 tournaments he has one win and 25 other top 10 finishes, including three runner-up finishes.
Joel Dahmen has played in 12 tournaments so far in 2025, making six cuts. He has three top 10s, including the second place at the Corales Puntacana Championship.
But it his demeanor and likability that has made him a fan favorite on the PGA Tour. Now, there is another reason to like the Clarkston, Washington native.
