“It is understood multiple pedestrians have been struck by a single vehicle,” police said in a statement.
“The incident is not believed to be intentional. The conditions of the patients are still being assessed.”
Ann, a caller to radio station 3AW, said a car had mounted the footpath, hitting the people at “high speed”.
“It’s just a suburban street … there’s four ambulances there, police galore, and all the roads are blocked off. It’s quite horrendous,” she said.

“I did not see it, but a neighbour of mine was there. Then the car took off, down the park near the playground, a person ran off, and that’s why the helicopters have been going around.”
They believe that several adults and a child were involved.
