Hearts have been melted by the adorable new life of a former bait dog who endured great suffering but now refuses to eat without being lavished with kisses.
Several years ago, Echo the pit-bull mix experienced countless horrifying experiences that would stay with her forever. She was used as a bait dog, meaning she was pitted against other canines to test out their fighting instincts. Animals used as bait are often left with lifelong injuries; tragically for some, it can even be fatal.
When she was rescued, Echo was just “skin and bones,” her ears had been “brutally cut off,” and she had canine parvovirus, which is highly contagious and can require hospitalization.
Thankfully, Echo’s life changed forever when she was adopted six years ago. She finally found a family who would love and support her, and those days of being used as bait were firmly in the past.
Nonetheless, it was clear that she had endured great trauma, as her owner noticed that she barely made a sound. It took a while for Echo’s confidence to grow and for her to feel secure in her new home.
But Echo has certainly come a long way since then. Indeed, her owner shared an adorable video on TikTok (@herefortheweird) of the pit-bull mix making the most of her new life.
During the clip, Echo can be seen patiently waiting to be fed and demanding kisses and fuss from her owner before eating. Of course, her tail doesn’t stop wagging for the duration of the footage, showing just how content she is nowadays.
The video has melted plenty of hearts online, leading to more than 427,000 views and over 66,200 likes on TikTok at the time of writing.

The caption layered over the clip jokes about it showing the “dangers of adopting a former bait pitty,” because of how gentle and loving Echo truly is.
As it turns out, it wasn’t just Echo’s life that changed following her adoption. Writing on TikTok, her owner said that her “world lit up” when the dog joined the family because of the joy she brings to her life.

Since the TikTok video was posted on July 12, it has amassed over 1,500 comments from social-media users; they praised Echo’s owner for saving her from a life as bait and giving her a second chance.
Among the responses on the post, one comment reads: “Awhh you can tell they baited her with food. She wants to make sure you don’t leave her.”
Another TikTok user joked: “You better watch out for that viscous pit bull, she might hurt you with all the kisses and tail whips. Thank you for saving this sweet angel baby.”
A third person responded: “You’re her emotional support human.”
One commenter added: “she sassed you into pre dinner kisses.”
