A retired Los Angeles Police Department officer has been sentenced to 20 years in prison nearly two years after prosecutors said he fatally shot his girlfriend’s son in New York.
Thomas Case , 54, was sentenced Tuesday, September 8, days after jurors decided he “intentionally caused the death” of 20-year-old Anthony Cuozzo in Pleasant Valley in October 2024, according to prosecutors.
Jurors also determined Case, who they found guilty of first-degree manslaughter, “acted under the influence of extreme emotional disturbance” during the shooting, the Dutchess County District Attorney’s Office said in a Tuesday news release.
