The “Madden NFL 26” rankings are starting to come out, and naturally, they are making people upset. Fans were in an uproar when Kansas City Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes was not placed in the 99 Club.

Now, former NFL quarterback Robert Griffin III has slammed the video game series for the ranking that was given to No. 1 overall pick Cam Ward. Ward was part of a video that introduced rankings to popular rookies in the league, but his score is far less than what it should be, according to RGIII.
Jameis Winston is talking to the rookies in the above video, and when he gets to Ward, the Titans signal caller was modest about what he thinks his ranking should be.
Ward states he should be “about a 70.” When Winston flips the card over, Ward’s ranking is revealed, very close at 71.
Though Ward was clearly self-aware about his ranking as a rookie, that 71 rating has ruffled the feathers of RGIII.
Cam Ward is the most disrespected QB #1 overall Pick EVER. I know it’s just a Madden Ranking , but Cam Ward having a 71 rating and not even being a top 10 rated rookie in the game as the 1st Pick in the NFL draft and the lack of national media coverage of him solidifies it.

RGIII took to X to state that Ward being ranked 71, and not receiving a ton of media coverage despite being the No. 1 overall pick, is suspect.
“Cam Ward is the most disrespected QB #1 overall Pick EVER. I know it’s just a Madden Ranking , but Cam Ward having a 71 rating and not even being a top 10 rated rookie in the game as the 1st Pick in the NFL draft and the lack of national media coverage of him solidifies it,” RGIII’s post reads.

Ward might not take umbrage with his own rating, as he stated he thought he would be a 70. Oddly enough, the 71 rating does appear to be low considering he was the No. 1 overall pick.
To put Ward’s score or rating into perspective, Jacksonville Jaguars rookie Travis Hunter leads the pack with an 84.
It is understandable that Hunter would have a high score, considering he plays well at two different positions. However, he has not played a snap in the NFL yet.
The same logic can be applied to Ward. However, Ward is the No. 1 overall pick and consensus top prospect out of college in 2025.
Again, Ward might just be more self-aware about his current status, leading to him being able to shock himself and doubters in his rookie season.
Ward also referred to the Titans’ offense as “mid,” meaning he knows that everyone can be better. His modesty might be a good tool, or it could be that he wants to temper his expectations.
Either way, Ward still has the skills to be a solid starter in 2025. It will just be up to him to change the minds of those “Madden” rating adjusters to give him a high score when he starts lighting up the field.
