Independent MP Dai Le says diplomatic relations with Iran are “absolutely” tense following Tuesday’s revelation that the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps was behind at least two antisemitic attacks in Sydney and Melbourne, which triggered the Iranian ambassador’s expulsion from Australia.
“I’m not part of the intelligence community and the prime minister’s security briefing,” Le told Nine’s Today this morning.

“But obviously, there are serious concerns in the community, and, the government has to do what they have been briefed on in terms of security and intelligence … we need to ensure that we are also feeling safe and secure from any potential tension and potential attacks from external forces.”
Iranian ambassador Ahmad Sadeghi reiterated his denials that Iran had any involvement in the attacks as he departed Australia last night, telling reporters at Sydney Airport the agencies’ conclusions could have come from a “conspiracy against our friendly relations with Australia”.
