Sarah Michelle Gellar and her Ready or Not 2: Here I Come costars Elijah Wood and Kathryn Newton were evacuated from a Paris hotel amid a fire.
A spokesperson for Le Bristol Paris confirmed to Entertainment Weekly that guests were evacuated on Wednesday, March 25, and have since been allowed back into the hotel. TMZ reported that the blaze broke out at around 11 a.m. local time at the adjacent 114 Faubourg restaurant, as a Ready or Not 2: Here I Come press junket was underway inside the hotel.
“The hotel, along with all of its outlets, with the exception of 114 Faubourg, has now reopened,” a Le Bristol Paris rep told the outlet.
Le Bristol Paris communications director, Fanny Crawford, thanked first responders “for their prompt intervention and professionalism” when a blaze broke out.
“[We thank guests] for their understanding, calm, and cooperation in response to this situation,” Crawford added. “The safety of our staff and guests remains our absolute priority. Our teams remain fully mobilized to ensure a return to normal operations under the best possible conditions.”
Us Weekly has reached out to Le Bristol Paris, Gellar, Wood and Newton for comment.
Newton, 29, seemingly poked fun at the evacuation with Gellar, 48, in a TikTok video that was later removed from her account. In the clip, Gellar revealed she was wearing comfy white slippers while Newton was decked out in sleek, black high heels.
“The difference between how I escape a fire, and how Kathryn escapes a fire,” Gellar quipped in the video as she flashed her slippers.
Newton replied, “I never take them off!”
The Ready or Not 2: Here I Come costars jokingly confirmed in a separate clip that they’d grabbed their morning coffees as they evacuated. Newton later shared footage of herself wearing the same lace cover-up over a black dress during the press tour.
Le Bristol Paris is a five-star hotel that first opened its doors in 1925. The hotel served as a makeshift American embassy during World War II and was later frequented by a high-profile international clientele, including Hollywood icons Rita Hayworth and Charlie Chaplin in the post-war period.
Meanwhile, Ready or Not 2: Here I Come is the sequel to directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett’s 2019 horror blockbuster Ready or Not, which was about bride-to-be Grace (Samara Weaving) surviving a deadly weekend with her future in laws. Weaving reprises her role as the heroic Grace in Ready or Not 2, this time tasked with saving her estranged sister Faith (Newton) from elite families using her as part of a sinister ritual.
Ready or Not 2: Here I Come — which is called Wedding Nightmare 2 in France and other territories — is now playing in theaters. (The film releases on April 8 in France.)
