Heading into their season opener against the Dallas Cowboys, Jalen Hurts is a member of the Philadelphia Eagles with a lot of eyes on him. Following an offseason full of discourse around him, he continued to show why he is one of the top talents at his position.
Last season, Hurts led the Eagles to a championship and took home Super Bowl MVP honors. Despite this feat, debates ensued about where he ranked among the NFL’s other premier QBs. Many slighted Hurts’ abilities, downplaying his success due to the cast of talent around him.
Amid these narratives, Hurts remained unfazed through it all. He stated that he wasn’t going to change his style of play due to outside noise and is focused on doing whatever is needed to lead the Eagles to victory week to week. Through the first game of the year, this mindset has been on full display.

Skip Bayless praises Eagles QB Jalen Hurts
Championship hangover is a thing commonly brought up in sports, but it doesn’t seem to be effecting the Eagles. Hurts has come out strong to open the 2025 campaign, putting together a near-perfect performance against the Cowboys.
Before the game was postponed due to the weather, Hurts was an impressive 13-for-15 for 111 yards. His biggest impact has been on the ground, rushing for 48 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
As Hurts methodically picked apart the Cowboys’ defense, Skip Bayless couldn’t do anything but tip his cap to the Eagles’ QB. He made numerous posts over the course of the game raving about Hurts and the impact he’s had on the matchup.
Bayless even went as far as to say that this is the top performance he’s seen from Hurts.
So far this is the best game I’ve ever seen Jalen Hurts play. Just flawless.

It didn’t end there, as Bayless also credited the Eagles star’s decision-making under center.

Behind this stellar play, the Eagles find themselves with the lead during the delay. Only time will tell if it will be enough to get the defending champs in the win column to open the year.
In preparation for the 2025 season, Hurts made it clear where he was from a mentality standpoint. He isn’t basking in what the team was able to accomplish last year. Instead, Hurts is putting all his time and energy into making sure the Eagles can get back to the mountaintop this season.
