Disney canceled the upcoming season of The Bachelorette as Taylor Frankie Paul has faced accusations of abuse.
Newsweek reached out to Paul for comment via Instagram message.
Why Was This Season of ‘The Bachelorette’ Canceled?
Disney confirmed the cancellation in a statement first reported by the Associated Press.
“In light of the newly released video just surfaced today, we have made the decision to not move forward with the new season of The Bachelorette at this time, and our focus is on supporting the family,” Disney wrote.
The decision comes as Paul and her ex-boyfriend, Dakota Mortensen, have faced an investigation for allegations of domestic violence, reported The New York Times. TMZ earlier Thursday published a leaked video appearing to show Paul throwing stools at Mortensen in the presence of her daughter.
Paul rose to fame as a member of “MomTok,” a group of Mormon mothers who have been chronicled on Hulu’s The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. She initially gained notoriety after revealing she was involved in “swinging” in 2022. She said at the time she and her then-husband were divorcing after apparently violating an agreement that swinging intimacy would only occur with each party’s primary spouse present.
Taylor Frankie Paul: Allegations Explained
A spokesperson for the police department in Draper City, Utah, confirmed to People magazine that there is an open domestic assault investigation regarding Paul and Mortensen. The allegations have been “made in both directions” and “contact was made with involved parties on [Feb] 24th and 25th,” the spokesperson said.
The spokesperson did not provide more details about the allegations.
When Was Taylor Frankie Paul Arrested?
Paul was arrested in 2023 and charged with aggravated assault and other offenses, including domestic violence in the presence of a child. She pleaded guilty that August to a misdemeanor charge of aggravated assault; the other charges were dismissed.
When Was ‘Secret Lives of Mormon Wives’ Season 4 Released?
The fourth season of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives was released on March 12, 2026.
The show premiered in 2024.
Mikayla Matthews, who also appears on the show, confirmed rumors that the show is on pause ahead of its fifth season amid the investigation. She wrote to her Instagram stories that the decision not to film was one “that all of us girls came up with and agreed on.”
“We didn’t feel comfortable filming with everything that was happening,” she wrote.
Paul posted on Instagram in December that filming had wrapped on “The Bachelorette,” which is hosted by Jesse Palmer.
