WrestleMania season is supposed to be when everything comes together for WWE fans.
It’s the Super Bowl of pro wrestling.
After a year of storylines, debuts, returns, and twists, WrestleMania is the realm where everything climaxes into a beautiful crescendo of pomp and circumstance.
But this road to WrestleMania 42 has been paved with road bumps and car flips.
And after “Friday Night SmackDown,” fans are not only upset about what’s happening, but also saying it might be the worst build to a WrestleMania in the history of the show, spanning decades.

On Friday, one of WrestleMania 42’s main events between Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton took another strange turn, as Pat McAfee appeared to turn villain against Rhodes and then proceeded to take over the title feud with a delirious rant about how “bad” the current product had become.
Multiple reports have stated that McAfee’s inclusion in the program is from the higher-ups at TKO, who own the WWE, with lead man Ari Emanuel allegedly a huge fan of the ex-NFL punter and believing that his addition would boost stagnant ticket sales.
Chief creative officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque, though, is the one in the crosshairs from the fans online.
Along with the McAfee of it all, fans were also upset at the ending of the show, where fan favorite Carmelo Hayes was brushed aside in favor of a U.S. championship feud between new champion Zayn and supernova rookie Trick Williams, who has now partnered with rapper Lil Yachty.
Hayes, who held the title for months and seemingly was on the verge of his first WrestleMania, now seems out of the picture with only two weeks left to go until the two-night show.
Along with massive dislikes on YouTube on WWE’s official videos, fans and reporters in the industry let their opinions be known following what some critics are calling one of the ‘worst ever’ shows in WWE’s illustrious television history.
Randy Orton and Cody Rhodes are still expected to main event night one of WrestleMania 42, closing out Saturday’s card. The final main event of the weekend, Sunday’s climax, is lined up to be CM Punk defending his world championship against Royal Rumble winner Roman Reigns.
