WASHINGTON — President Trump slammed Ukraine Sunday for expressing “zero gratitude” toward his administration for its efforts to end Russia’s bloody war — as a White House-backed 28-point peace plan is facing claims that it’s a Russian “wishlist.”
“UKRAINE ‘LEADERSHIP’ HAS EXPRESSED ZERO GRATITUDE FOR OUR EFFORTS, AND EUROPE CONTINUES TO BUY OIL FROM RUSSIA,” Trump posted on Truth Social.
“THE USA CONTINUES TO SELL MASSIVE $AMOUNTS OF WEAPONS TO NATO, FOR DISTRIBUTION TO UKRAINE (CROOKED JOE GAVE EVERYTHING, FREE, FREE, FREE, INCLUDING “BIG” MONEY!),” the president went on.
Last week, a 28-point plan to end the war in Ukraine leaked and sparked a firestorm. On Saturday, confusion emerged over whether the US actually authored the blueprint after senators claimed Secretary of State Marco Rubio indicated to them that it wasn’t.
But the State Department said that the US was behind the plan, which would have Ukraine cede the entirety of the Donbas region, which the Russians have been unable to fully take over by military force for over a decade.
Ukraine would also have to commit to never joining NATO, slimming down its military force from roughly 900,000 to 600,000 personnel and giving amnesty to everyone involved in the war — meaning that Russians couldn’t face war crime claims.
Meanwhile, the Russians would only be required to make a few concessions.
Trump did not specifically address the plan in his Truth Social post.
