Looks like some Ohio policemen were trying to avoid landing on the naughty list.
A man in a Santa Claus suit was stopped on Tuesday, December 23, while driving with a woman who was dressed as Mrs. Claus, and as you might imagine, the police body camera footage has already gone viral.
The speeding Santa was pulled over by the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office, which issued a press statement on the matter.
“Santa and Mrs. Claus were spotted flying a little too fast through Fulton County,” reads the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office news release, which included the amusing bodycam footage. As the deputy approached the driver’s side of the vehicle, he noticed the man was dressed like Saint Nick and couldn’t help but laugh at the ludicrous situation.
“Santa!” the deputy briefly exclaimed, before saddling up to the car. Santa was told he was driving well over the posted 55 mph speed limit and then cops asked to see his driver’s license.
As Santa exited the car to find his license, sleigh bells could be heard. The deputy joked, “There goes my presents!” While the deputy was examining Santa’s driver’s license, Mrs. Claus was seen in the passenger seat, also laughing loudly at the ridiculous situation.
It was unclear how fast Santa was driving. The police warned Santa that the area is rife with deer, and that at 55 mph, he would be unable to stop in time. He told the cops he was heading to an event for his daughter, where he was going to play the North Pole’s number one resident.
Santa was let off with a warning, as the deputy told him, “Santa! Slow your speed,” to which Santa replied, “I call Rudolph on you.”
“It’s Nick, you know,” Mrs. Claus said, before posing for a photo with Santa and the deputy together. Mrs. Claus even played her part perfectly, giving the deputy a candy cane.
The press release, posted to Facebook, said that “No coal was issued — just a friendly reminder that even sleighs need to slow down. Christmas is still on schedule! 🎄✨. Stay safe and happy holidays!”
It has been a busy holiday season for police this year.
In New Jersey, a former elementary school teacher who works during the holidays as a Santa-for-Hire has been accused of both possessing and distributing child pornography. Mark Paulino was arrested by a multi-agency task force on Friday, December 5, inside the 64-year-old’s Hamilton Township home.
Meanwhile, police down in Florida arrested a real-life “Grinch” who allegedly pilfered a box of donated toys. The Martin County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of Cecilia Josephine Milano, 64, on Thursday, December 18. Cops claim that Milano is the person who allegedly swiped an entire box of toy donations on Friday, December 12, from a restaurant in Jensen Beach, located just southeast of West Palm Beach.
The restaurant, the Barbecue Beer Co., was collecting the toys for a local organization called Elev8Hope, which assists a needy area family during the holidays.
