WA Premier Roger Cook has confirmed the state is not considering changing the law to give workers the right to work from home two days a week if it’s reasonable to do so.
Victoria’s government is moving forward with its pledge to enshrine working from home as a legal right, with legislation to be introduced into Parliament next year.

But Cook says it’s not something the west will follow.
“WA employees are entitled under our state industrial relation laws to make flexible working arrangements and the state doesn’t have any plans to mandate working from home requirements,” he said.
“We know that in a modern workplace that more flexible workplace arrangements are a fact of life.”
He declined to be drawn on whether the Victorian government’s move was a bad one, instead pointing to their extended lock-downs during the pandemic, and different attitudes towards working from home.
“We know that in Victoria there’s a much bigger culture in relation to working from home because that was a fact of their life during COVID, it didn’t become a fact of life for West Australian workers,” he said.
