Thousands of products crowd the halls of IFA, one of the world’s largest consumer technology shows. Most promise to make our lives easier, healthier or more connected. Every year, however, a few exhibitors appear to receive a slightly different assignment.
At IFA 2026 in Berlin, we found an air conditioner that follows you around, a skylight that reads the mood and AI companions waiting to become emotionally complicated. Some of this technology is unexpectedly clever. Some of it solves problems we didn’t know existed.
All of it made us stop walking and ask, “Wait, what is that?”
