Travis Kelce appeared to skip the funeral service held in honor of his dad Ed Kelce’s longtime girlfriend, Maureen Maguire.
A memorial was held in Maguire’s honor in Pennsylvania on Thursday, August 7, according to photos obtained by TMZ. Ed presumably acted as a pallbearer, as he was seen helping to carry the casket. Ed’s eldest son, Jason Kelce, was also pictured at the service, attending alongside his wife, Kylie Kelce.
Travis, Ed and ex-wife Donna Kelce’s youngest son, however, was not spotted at the procession, likely because of his NFL obligations. Travis, 35, was pictured at his Kansas City Chiefs training camp on the same day as the funeral.
“We have a special visitor at practice 👀 Welcome to St. Joe, TO,” the Chiefs captioned a Thursday Instagram photo of Travis greeting NFL alum Terrell Owens mid-practice.
One day earlier, Travis was spotted on the field in Missouri again with teammate Patrick Mahomes and head coach Andy Reid in a photo obtained by Us Weekly. (The Chiefs have their first preseason game on Saturday, August 9, against the Arizona Cardinals.)
Neither Travis nor Jason, 37, have publicly addressed Maguire’s passing at age 74. Ed, for his part, confirmed her death on August 2 when he shared an obituary link via his Facebook.
“Maureen Maguire, born November 21, 1950, in the Bronx, New York, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones,” the tribute read. “Though she began her life in New York City, Maureen spent the majority of her years in the suburbs of Philadelphia, where she built a warm and vibrant home filled with love, laughter, and family traditions.”
The statement added, Maureen found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved the beach — especially the shore — and had a deep affection for dogs. In recent years, she spent treasured time in Cape May with her family, enjoying peaceful days by the ocean. She also grew an unexpected love for football later in life, sharing many laughs and adventures with her beloved friend Ed Kelce and her loyal dog, Butch.”
In addition to Ed, Maguire is survived by her children and grandchildren from a previous relationship.
Maguire’s obituary also noted that she and Ed often traveled together to attend “football games and concerts,” likely supporting Ed’s sons. (Travis is a tight end for the Chiefs, while Jason played 14 seasons as a center for the Philadelphia Eagles before retiring in 2024.)
As Maguire and Ed cheered for Travis in the past two years, they formed a friendship with his girlfriend, Taylor Swift.
“I met Taylor at Travis’ house. When Travis has a lot of friends coming into town to the game, everyone meets at his house, although he’s not there because he’s sequestered with the team,” Ed said during a January 2024 appearance on Audacy’s 92.3 The Fan radio show. “Everyone meets at the house, and they have a shuttle that comes [to] pick everyone up and take them to the game. At any given home game, you could end up with 20 people there.”
He added, “Taylor walks in with a security guy, and I look at her, and I say [to my girlfriend], ‘Oh my God, I know this kid, but I don’t know what her name is. Jeez, you know, like a real idiot.’”
Ed recalled that Maguire replied, “You don’t know her? This is Taylor Swift, you idiot.”
