A video about a woman who appears to live above a coffee shop has captivated viewers on TikTok.
The clip posted by @matchawh0re__ has garnered over 25.9 million views since November 13. The footage begins with the woman relaxing on a sofa, scrolling through her phone while wearing headphones. A note overlaid on the video reads: “When I’m bored at home but then remember my dad opened a coffee shop downstairs.”
Viewers then follow her as she walks through her home, descending a few flights of stairs before arriving at the cozy café below, where she makes herself a drink and heads back to the living space upstairs. The coffee shop is called La La Land in Los Angeles, according to other videos on her profile.
In a caption shared with the post, the woman said: “lol [laugh out loud] guys this is a joks.[joke],” adding, “y’all he’s not my dad,” in a later comment.
The global coffee shop market in 2023 was valued to be worth almost $300 billion and forecast to grow at a CAGR (compound annual growth rate) of 5.4 percent. This could raise the market value to $430 billion by 2030, according to a report by Grand View Research, a market research and consulting company headquartered in San Francisco.
The report attributes this growth to factors such as urbanization, especially in developing regions, which is boosting demand for convenient and social dining options.
The report says: “One of the most significant factors driving the market is rapid urbanization, particularly in developing countries. As people flock to cities for work and education, their lifestyles tend to change, creating a higher demand for quick, convenient, and social dining experiences.”
The report adds how cafés have evolved from simple coffee-serving establishments into bustling social hubs, offering patrons a space to work, socialize, and relax.
“In urban centers, cafés are more than just places to grab a coffee; they have evolved into social hubs where people work, relax, and meet friends. This shift is creating more demand for dining establishments like cafés that offer quick service and an inviting atmosphere,” the report notes.
