If you are finding today’s Wordle puzzle tricky, chances are, you’re not alone. The answer is a tough one, which is why Newsweek is here to help you secure a win.
Software engineer Josh Wardle invented the game simply as an activity for him and his partner to enjoy during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, after quickly realizing its wider appeal, Wardle released it to the public in October 2021. By January 2022, The New York Times had purchased the brainteaser for a seven-figure sum that has never been made public.
Today, Wordle is the newspaper’s most-popular game and boasts millions of players, including celebrities like Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, Allison Janney and more.
In an interview with Newsweek in 2022, Wardle said that, while the puzzle has a dedicated following, “the game won’t allow you to binge or get addicted.”
“In general, I’m pretty wary of apps that want to consume all of your time and maximize engagement like that. I just don’t think that stuff’s very nice to do to other people quite frankly.”
Wardle added: “Most people can solve a Wordle puzzle in about five minutes and then forget about it.”
If you are not one of those people, though, don’t worry! Keep scrolling for Newsweek‘s handy hints for game #1,370.
How To Play ‘Wordle’
Wordle players are given six attempts to guess the daily five-letter word. Gray tiles behind each letter indicate that they are not in the word whatsoever; yellow means the letter is in the word but is in the wrong position; while green lets players know the letter is in the word and in the correct location.
