Senator Lindsey Graham, Republican of South Carolina, was confronted by news outlet TMZ about a viral photo of the congressman holding a bubble wand at Disney World during spring break, amid the outlet’s shame campaign against members of Congress who enjoyed the break while the partial closure of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) continues.
In the video, which has now accumulated over 1 million views since it was posted on Monday evening, the TMZ reporter approached the senator as he was on his way to his office on Monday at the Russell Building, in Washington, D.C., and asked him about the now-famous photo of him holding the bubble wand.
Graham raised his hand, gesturing he did not want to speak to the reporter and continued walking up the stairs.
The viral photo was sent to TMZ by a member of the public at Space Mountain at Disney World’s Magic Kingdom, after the outlet called for photos and videos of lawmakers enjoying their holiday while thousands of federal workers continued to go unpaid amid the partial DHS shutdown.
It showed the senator carrying a bubble wand, and the eyewitness told TMZ he was holding the wand for a child while she went to the bathroom.
This is a developing story. More to follow.
