Patty Mills spent the majority of his 16-year NBA career in San Antonio, suiting up for the Spurs from 2011-2021.
Mills overlapped with just two players on the Spurs’ current roster, which just secured a trip to the NBA Finals with a Western Conference Finals victory over the reigning-champion Oklahoma City Thunder.
Mills played two seasons with Keldon Johnson, who joined the Spurs as the team’s 29th overall pick in the 2019 draft. Devin Vassell joined the team one year later as the 11th overall pick in 2020, overlapping with Mills for his final season in San Antonio.
After the Spurs’ Game 7 victory over the Thunder, Mills sent a heartfelt message to both Johnson and Vassell.
“Proud of these boys. Four more,” Mills wrote on social media, along with photos from their time as teammates in San Antonio.

Both Johnson and Vassell endured a lengthy streak of losing seasons before the Spurs’ meteoric rise to where they are today.
“This is one of the most emotional, rewarding nights I’ve ever been a part of,” Johnson said after Game 7. “We’ve been through so much as a team.”
Johnson and Vassell scored 11 points apiece in Saturday night’s closeout game in Oklahoma City.
