Drawn together.
Two years ago, at her friend’s suggestion, a San Diego-based singleton purchased a soulmate drawing and psychic reading from a woman named Lucrezia on Etsy.
“My friend saw the idea on TikTok,” Ashley Watson told People. “I loved everything about it, so it was a no-brainer. I really didn’t give it that much thought. I was just like, ‘Why not?’”
The drawings, which are done by hand and refined using software, aim to capture “the essence of your soulmate and serve as a visual representation of your destined connection.”
When Watson saw the detailed image of her own would-be paramour, her response was simple: “Hot, sign me up.”
The reading, marketed as a “soul-stirring, heartwarming journey of love and connection,” also included a detailed soulmate reading to “unveil the characteristics, emotions, and energies of your soulmate.”
In Watson’s case, the reading predicted that her soulmate would enter her life within 90 days.
A week later, she met Carson Ballou.
While Ballou looked not unlike the soulmate drawing, the similarities did not immediately dawn on her.
“In all honesty, when I saw him, I didn’t even think about the psychic thing. I was just like, ‘That’s a hot man,’” Watson admitted, recalling that the two had an amazing first date and undeniable chemistry.
“Everything was perfect. It wasn’t until later, when I was telling everyone about him and sent my cousin a photo, that she was like, ‘Doesn’t he kind of look like that psychic thing you did?’ And I was like, oh my god — I had totally forgotten about it.’”
Lucrezia, whom Watson described as a “witch” in an Instagram reel, has been practicing her soulmate game for more than a decade.
On her Etsy page, Lucrezia, who is based in Florence, Italy, calls herself a clairvoyant empath with precise insights.
“I’m here to assist individuals in gaining clarity on various aspects of their lives, whether it’s related to their career, their current or past relationships, their overall life journey, and more,” she writes.
Watson initially kept the uncanny drawing from Watson, but in the end the similarities were too strong to keep a secret.
“I remember like testing the waters a little bit by being like, ‘Isn’t this funny? This kind of looks like you,’” she said.
“I don’t think it scared him too much.”
It would seem not, as Ballou, who described Watson as”an angel who deserves the world,” recently popped the question at sunrise in a lavender field in southern France.
“Growing with Ashley over the last two years has been nothing short of magical,” Ballou told People. “When it came time to plan our summer trip to France, I knew it would be the perfect opportunity to ask the question I had been so eager to ask.”
Watson, who gave an eager yes to the early morning inquiry, admits that the cosmic circumstances of their meeting still surprise her.
“It feels a little surreal to be engaged to the man I met in 2024, just after receiving a drawing and soulmate report from an Etsy psychic that described him with eerie accuracy.”
Still, she hopes their love story will inspire others to be open to the possibility of finding a soulmate of their own.
“Whether it’s fate, coincidence, intuition, or a very talented Etsy psychic, I like leaving room for a little magic and whimsy.”
She also wholeheartedly recommends that other romantic hopefuls get themselves a soulmate drawing.
“The fact that this ended up becoming part of my story was absolutely not on my bingo card, but I am SO glad it did.”
And legions may want to follow her lead, as a shocking one in five Americans in a relationship says their current partner is not their soulmate.
Lucrezia’s soulmate drawings are available here for the bargain price of $22.49. According to the site, nearly 500 people have purchased her drawings in the last 24 hours alone.
Lucrezia also offers future-baby drawings, fertility and palmistry readings, messages from the dead, and traditional tarot readings.
