While Mets fans might not have thought they were favorites in the NL East, even the most pessimistic fan couldn’t have seen this coming.
The pitching, aside from Nolan McLean, has been poor, the payroll-busting lineup has been nonexistent, and the energy around the team feels overly tense and disconnected.
10-21 shouldn’t be a death knell for a franchise with nearly unlimited resources, but not even billions of dollars can buy positive vibes in the Mets’ clubhouse right now.

Olson is having his best season since 2023, when he looked like a perennial MVP contender, and the Braves are feasting while their two biggest rivals, the Mets and Phillies, are imploding.
It’s a good time to be an Atlanta fan following a mirage that was a terrible 2025 campaign.
The Winner of the NL East Will Be: Atlanta Braves
Maybe the easiest pick out of all the divisions. The Phillies and Mets might crawl out of their giant hole and compete for a wildcard spot, but the division seems out of the question. Neither the Washington Nationals nor the Miami Marlins has the depth to keep up with the Braves, which should give Atlanta a straightforward path to the playoffs.
