1. ‘Havoc’ (2025)
In this original action thriller, Tom Hardy stars as Patrick Walker, a jaded detective who has to protect a crooked politician’s son, Charlie (Justin Cornwall). A drug deal has just gone bad and the son knows a lot more than he is willing to share.
Now, Walker must deal with gun-happy drug dealers, corrupt cops and the son’s shady father, Lawrence (Forest Whitaker), to save the boy and expose a drug ring that could bring down the entire police force.
2. ‘iHostage’ (2025)
You wouldn’t think an Apple store in Amsterdam would be an ideal setting for a thriller, but iHostage makes good use of the location to dramatize a true story about a hostage situation gone terribly wrong.
In 2022, a 27-year-old man walked into an Apple store, took a man hostage and demanded over $200 million in cryptocurrency. What follows is a tense standoff between the gunman and the police as they try to find some way out of this mess without anyone getting killed.
3. ‘American Sniper’ (2004)
Clint Eastwood’s critically acclaimed biographical war drama tells the true story of Chris Kyle (Bradley Cooper), an Iraq War veteran who was known to be the deadliest marksman in U.S. military history.
The film follows Kyle’s life during the war and after, when he suffered from PTSD and struggled to deal with his mental health issues. American Sniper was one of 2014’s highest-grossing movies and its popularity continues to grow now that it’s on Netflix.
4. ‘A Dog’s Way Home’ (2019)
When puppy Bella is left by her family at a farm in New Mexico, she’s determined to find her way back home to Denver. 400 miles is a long way to go, though, and she’ll need the help of a stray cat, some homeless people and other kind-hearted strangers to reunite with the only family she’s ever known.
A Dog’s Way Home features famous actors like Ashley Judd and Jonah Hauer-King, but the real star is dog Shelby, who plays Bella and easily outshines her human costars.
5. ‘Despicable Me 4’ (2024)
Those Minions just can’t be stopped! Those lovable lemmings return with their master, Gru (Steve Carell), for yet another brightly colored adventure in Despicable Me 4. This time around, Gru and his new family must go into hiding after an old classmate, Maxime Le Mal (Will Ferrell), wants to turn his son, Gru Jr. (Tara Strong), into a super-villain cockroach.
Hijinks ensue as Gru and his family assume new, mundane identities in bland suburbia to avoid being detected by Maxime. But Le Mal is craftier than Gru gives him credit for, and he’ll have to defend his family at any cost.
6. ‘Oklahoma City Bombing: American Terror’ (2025)
Before 9/11, one of the worst terrorist attacks in America occurred in Oklahoma City, where a federal office building was bombed, killing 168 people. This shocking event is examined in Oklahoma City Bombing: American Terror, a gripping, 84-minute documentary that’s been an instant hit ever since its debut in April.
Using archival footage and contemporary interviews, Oklahoma City Bombing recreates the event step by step, from the days and hours before the act to the immediate reaction by the world once the bomb goes off.
7. ‘Murder at Yellowstone City’ (2022)
No, it’s not a movie version of the popular series, Yellowstone — it’s an obscure 2022 Western starring Richard Dreyfuss, Thomas Jane and Isaiah Mustafa.
When a former slave, Cicero (Mustafa), is accused of murdering a man, the town’s preacher, Thaddeus Murphy (Jane), finds the courage to stand up for what’s right, even if that means angering the town’s corrupt sheriff, Jim Ambrose (Gabriel Byrne).
8. ‘The Life List’ (2025)
When her mother (Connie Britton) dies, Alex (Sofia Carson) expects to inherit her job as CEO of the family’s company and some money. Instead, Alex gets a “life list” of specific tasks she must complete in order to gain her inheritance. Will Alex follow her mother’s instructions and find a possible path to a new life — and a new love?
The Life List is yet another hit movie starring Carson, who starred in the streamer’s earlier hits, Purple Hearts and the action-thriller Carry-On. The movie has spent an impressive five weeks on this list, making it one of Netflix’s biggest hits of 2025 so far.
9. ‘Bullet Train Explosion’ (2025)
Bullet Train Explosion is Speed only on a Japanese train that can’t drop below 100 km (that’s 62 mph for Westerners) or else it will explode. That’s what an anonymous caller claims as he threatens to blow up the Hayabusa 60 bullet train to Tokyo unless his ransom demands are met.
Train driver Chika Matsumoto (Non) must navigate this perilous journey while trying to keep his passengers in the dark about what’s happening. But that can only last for long, and soon, Chika and the Hayabusa crew must make some hard decisions to save everyone on board and prevent catastrophe.
10. ‘The Croods’ (2013)
After an earthquake destroys their cave home, prehistoric family the Croods must travel across dangerous lands to find their home. Along the way, they’ll discover what true family bonds really mean as they try to survive erupting volcanoes, sabretooth cats and a scary new invention called “fire.”
The Croods was a big hit for DreamWorks back in 2013, and it’s still a hit for a new generation of children. The impressive voice cast includes Emma Stone, Nicolas Cage and Ryan Reynolds.
