The Masters gave fans so much drama on Sunday as it took extra holes to declare a winner.

After 11 years, Rory McIlroy completed the career grand slam and slipped on the Green Jacket in what may go down as one of the best Championship Sundays in the 89 years of the tournament.

When the ball rolled into the hole, McIlroy’s emotions flooded out of him. He could not contain himself as he finally made history.

As he walked off the course, the emotions continued.

It was not easy, though.

McIlroy and Justin Rose went head to head after the Northern Irishman missed a short putt on 18 to claim a one-shot victory.

The Englishman was seven shots back at the start of the day and made 10 birdies to get into the playoff against his Ryder Cup teammate. However, his luck ran out as he settled for par and McIlroy sank his short birdie putt.

McIlroy not only gets a Green Jacket but a hefty $4.2 million check.

Rose’s runner-up finish earned him a $2,268,000 share of the $21 million purse. It is the second major in a row where he was in that second-place spot.

LIV Golf’s Patrick Reed finished solo third and won $1,428,000. It is his best finish in a major championship since he won his Green Jacket in 2018.

The 2024 champ, Scottie Scheffler, claimed solo fourth at 8-under. He won 1,008,000.
