The Tennessee Titans are in an exciting position as the holders of the No. 1 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.

The team is widely expected to take Miami’s Cam Ward with the top pick. Perhaps no team needs a franchise quarterback more desperately than the Titans, and Ward appears to be a natural fit.

However, nothing is ever guaranteed in the NFL, and every year it seems the sports world is shocked by a couple of first-round selections. It’s possible the Titans could be intrigued by edge-rusher Abdul Carter or two-way star Travis Hunter.

Today, we’re going to identify the four prospects who the Titans should avoid on draft night.

Abdul Carter, EDGE, Penn State

Abdul Carter could potentially be the best overall talent in this class. The Titans do desperately need help on the edge as well, which makes Carter seem like a perfect fit.

No matter how good Carter ends up being, he likely won’t be as impactful as a franchise quarterback. While the Penn State product would undoubtedly make the Titans better, it would not be worth it to miss out on a potentially franchise-altering passer.

If a team that didn’t need a quarterback owned the top pick, it would be likely that Carter would be the first player off the board. Unfortunately for the defender, though, the Titans own the pick and appear unlikely to move off of Ward.

Travis Hunter, CB/WR, Colorado

Like Carter, Travis Hunter has a legitimate case to make as the best overall prospect in this class.

While Hunter plays two positions, neither of those are quarterback, which means the Titans shouldn’t pay too much mind to the prospect. It would definitely excite the fanbase to get a Heisman Trophy-winning player like Hunter in the building, but the team needs stability at the most important positon more than it needs a two-way athlete.

Whoever gets Hunter will likely be extremely pleased with the results. The dynamic athlete can be a Pro Bowler at two different positions, but it shouldn’t happen in Tennessee.

Jaxson Dart, QB, Ole Miss

What if the Titans aren’t totally sold on Cam Ward as their next quarterback? It’s possible the team could choose a different player with the No. 1 pick or perhaps trade down to collect more picks.

If the team trades down from No. 1 or secures another first-round pick, it’s possible Jaxson Dart from Ole Miss would be an option. Dart was extremely productive for the Rebels and has been receiving some first-round buzz as of late.

In my opinion, though, this would be too cute of a move. The Titans have the top pick and the potential to take the best passer in the class. Dart is more unproven than Ward and definitely has a lower ceiling.

Jalen Milroe, QB, Alabama

Like Dart, Jalen Milroe is another interesting quarterback prospect who the Titans could theoretically be interested in.

Draft analysts have had a hard time nailing down where Milroe will be drafted. The quarterback was invited to attend the draft in person, but some mocks have the Alabama product going as late as the third round.

There’s a scenario where the Titans choose a non-quarterback in the first round and try to land Milroe in the second or third. The Titans don’t have a third-round selection, so a trade into the round would have to be pulled off.

Regardless, the team would be better off just sticking at No. 1 and taking Ward.
