The NBA free agency frenzy has come and gone. Many players have found new homes, but there are still some quality options available for teams. One of those quality options is Philadelphia 76ers’ free agent guard Quentin Grimes.

Grimes, who is a restricted free agent, has still not signed. He could be a very intriguing pickup for quite a few teams around the NBA.

While the 76ers are still widely viewed as a likely landing spot for him, there is another team who could have interest in him.

NBA reporter Grant Afseth of Fastbreak Journal revealed an Eastern Conference executives opinion about a potential landing spot for Grimes.

That potential landing spot is none other than the Utah Jazz.

“If Utah uses that cap space, it’ll be for someone like Quentin Grimes, someone who can knock down threes and guard multiple positions, but still can create off the dribble,” the executive said via Afseth. “He’s also shown flashes as a scorer and playmaker in Philly. He’s shown he can grow into a more complete player in the right system. That’s a different type of bet than what you’re making on Thomas.”

During the 2024-25 NBA season with Philadelphia, Grimes put up huge numbers. He played in 28 games and made 25 starts with the 76ers after beginning the year with the Dallas Mavericks.

In the time that he spent with the 76ers, Grimes averaged 21.9 points per game to go along 5.2 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and 1.5 steals. He also shot 46.9 percent from the floor and knocked down 37.3 percent of his three-point attempts.

At just 25 years old, Grimes could be a very valuable pickup for whoever brings him in. Philadelphia should keep him around, but if the team lets him walk a suitor like the Jazz could come along.

Utah finished last season with a 17-65 record. The Jazz do have some solid building blocks, but they need more talent. Grimes could help in that department right away, while also being a potential long-term fit with his age.

Expect to hear more about Grimes in the near future. He’s still a free agent, but he won’t have to worry about whether or not he’ll find a job. It’s just a matter of who offers him what he deserves to be paid.
