The Chicago Bears and first-year head coach Ben Johnson are heading into the 2025 NFL season with high expectations. While they aren’t expected to be Super Bowl contenders, the team is expected to be a lot better than it was a year ago.
A lot of questions have been swirling about second-year quarterback and 2024 No. 1 overall pick Caleb Williams. Plenty of videos have shown the young quarterback struggling throughout the offseason.
Despite the concerns, the Bears have a much more talented roster on paper this year. If the team plays up to its full potential, it should take the leap that is expected.
Browns’ Shedeur Sanders Lands Shocking Prediction About NFL Future
Johnson is known for being an offensive mastermind. He was behind the Detroit Lions’ recent offensive breakout. Now, he’ll be looking to bring that same dynamic offense to Chicago.
With the season opener against the Minnesota Vikings right around the corner, Johnson spoke out about one thing that has been keeping him up at night.
No, it has nothing to do with the concerning reports about Williams. Instead, he’s worried about how he’s going to make sure that all of the Bears’ offensive weapons are well fed.
“It’s not just the trust of whether he can do a certain job, it’s sharing the wealth,” Johnson said. “That’s what keeps me up at night, is trying to make sure that all of our horses are fed. Because these guys, I mean, they’re super talented players and we just need to get them a little space and the ball in their hands and they can make big things happen.”
He kept going, talking more about the offense and what he has told the weapons that he has at his disposal.
“And so I’ve been pretty transparent to them in the spring and so far in camp that if you’re active on game day, we’re going to have a role for you. We’ll have some jobs for you. And then how big that is really dictated on how well you practice and really your track record going up into the week.”

Looking at the roster, Chicago should have a good offensive attack. Led by Williams, the Bears’ passing game will feature names like DJ Moore, Rome Odunze, Luther Burden III, Colston Loveland, and Cole Kmet. At running back, the team will have D’Andre Swift and Roschon Johnson.
It’s a good problem to have, but Johnson will need to figure out a game plan that keeps all of his playmakers involved and in a position to make a major impact.
Hopefully, the Bears are able to live up to the hype. Williams needs to prove that he can be a long-term franchise quarterback as well, but the pieces are in place for him to do just that.
