Cam Skattebo is quickly becoming a fan favorite for the New York Giants, and he continued to do that on Sunday night, as he finished with 121 total yards of offense and scored a touchdown. Unfortunately, no one else on the offense did, as they could only muster up 281 yards of total offense in the 22-9 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.

The offense in Week 2 put up 506 yards of total offense, and scored 37 points in the overtime loss to the Dallas Cowboys. Quarterback Russell Wilson threw for 450 yards and three touchdowns. It was a completely different story on Sunday night, as he finished with 160 yards and two interceptions. A good amount of those yards came on the final drive when the game was over.

While there was not much to be excited about for Giants fans, the rookie running back continued to become a fan favorite with his physical running style.

For any player in the rookie season, teams are looking to see improvement from those players, and Skattebo is doing just that.

The rookie from Arizona State didn’t do much in the Week 1 loss to the Washington Commanders, as he finished with only two carries for -3 yards.

However, he was much better last week, getting 45 rushing yards and scoring his first career touchdown.

Once again, on Sunday night he took that next step and showed versatility in both the ground game as well as the passing game. He had 10 carries for 60 yards and the score, but also added another six catches for 61 yards. He was by far the most effective pass catcher on Sunday night, as superstar wide receiver Malik Nabers finished with only two catches for 13 yards.

Skattebo has been splitting time with Tyrone Tracy Jr., but Tracy left with an arm injury and didn’t come back in the game.

This is quickly becoming the type of season where teams start preparing for the future, and Giants fans appear to be well on their way to that. The Giants had quarterback Jaxson Dart in the game for a couple of plays, and the crowd cheered loud every time he did.

The schedule doesn’t get any easier for the Giants, as they host the first place team in the AFC West and undefeated Los Angeles Chargers next week. There is going to be even more calls for Dart to be the start and for Skattebo to continue to be a big part of the offense.

For Giants fans, the energy and passion that Skattebo plays with may be the most exciting part of the team.
