Boston Celtics superstar Jayson Tatum exited Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals against the New York Knicks with an apparent non-contact lower leg injury.

Out of a timeout with just over three minutes to go in the game, Jaylen Brown lost the ball while driving to the hoop. Tatum lunged to get the ball and went to the ground in immediate pain.

Tatum was rolling around in pain and stayed down for a couple minutes before he was helped off the court. He wasn’t able to put any weight on his right leg.

He was put in a wheelchair as he went back to the locker room. Here’s a photo, also courtesy of Hoop Central on X:

Tatum left after the Celtics blew a double-digit second half lead and trailed by nine with just three minutes to go following the breakaway dunk off the turnover. The Celtics went on to lose Game 4, 121-113, and are now one loss away from being eliminated from the postseason.

All concern, however, is focused around their 27-year-old superstar.

Tatum was in the midst of a dominant performance, as he had 42 points, eight rebounds, four assists, four steals and two blocks. He was 16-for-28 from the field and 7-for-16 from deep.

His 42 points were the most he’s scored in a game during the 2025 playoffs. After a dominant first round performance in which he scored at least 35 points in three consecutive games against the Orlando Magic, Tatum had struggled during the Knicks series, averaging 19.3 points per game while shooting 32.3 percent from the field entering Monday night’s contest.

He picked it up in Game 4, though, and was doing everything he could to tie the series at two games apiece before heading back to Boston for Game 5. Now, Tatum’s status for the potential series clincher for New York appears to be in serious jeopardy.
