The Kansas City Chiefs entered Monday night’s primetime matchup on ESPN riding a two-game winning streak as they faced the 3-1 Jacksonville Jaguars.

While both offenses punted on their opening drives, it didn’t take long for quarterback Patrick Mahomes to get star tight end Travis Kelce, who turned 36 on Sunday, involved in the action.

Kelce hauled in the first pass of the Chiefs’ series for nine yards and followed it up with another catch for six yards. That second reception marked a historic milestone.

The Chiefs announced on social media that Kelce is now the franchise’s all-time leader in all-purpose yards with 12,357, surpassing Dante Hall, who recorded 12,356 yards from 2000–2006. Kelce achieved this in his 13th NFL season.

“Another list with Travis at the top,” the Chiefs posted. “Thanks for all the yards, @tkelce!”

Chiefs fans had some pretty animated reactions on social media to Kelce’s historic milestone.

“It’s giving… GOAT,” a fan said.

Someone else added: “Travis Kelce is a legend.”

Another person wrote: “HELL YEAH.”

“Congrats Trav!!” one more fan commented.

Despite having a reduced role in the Chiefs offense this season — Kelce’s played just 66% of offensive snaps in Week 4 — the Pro Bowl TE remains a focal point whenever he’s on the field and continues to be one of the team’s most prominent leaders as he chases his fourth Lombardi Trophy.

Kelce has already cemented his legacy as a future Hall of Famer and one of the greatest tight ends and postseason performers in NFL history. He ranks third all-time in receptions and receiving yards among tight ends in NFL history behind only Tony Gonzalez and Jason Witten, and his resume boasts 10 Pro Bowls, seven All-Pro selections, and three Super Bowl championships.

When asked about retirement ahead of Monday night’s game by his brother Jason during an exclusive ESPN interview alongside Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes, Kelce said: “I take it day by day, year by year. I just love coming into work with these guys right here. That culture has become, you know, my way of life. The expectation year in and year out is Super Bowl or failure.”
