Kansas City Chiefs All-Pro defensive tackle Chris Jones provided the Denver Broncos with the antithesis of bulletin board material.

Jones met with the media at the Chiefs’ Wednesday mandatory minicamp, and he was asked whether he watched the NFL playoffs in January.

“Not at all, man,” Jones said. “I got a couple glimpses of the game[s]. I wish Denver would have won it. I wish they would have gone all the way. You know, kept the AFC West strong. But no, I didn’t watch it.”

The Broncos went 14-3, won the AFC West for the first time since 2015, and earned the No. 1 seed in the AFC. All of Denver will always wonder would could have been if quarterback Bo Nix hadn’t fractured his ankle against Buffalo in the Divisional Round. With backup Jarrett Stidham under center, the Broncos lost the AFC Championship Game to the New England Patriots.

The Chiefs had reached three straight Super Bowls, winning back-to-back championships to finish the 2022 and 2023 seasons, and won nine straight AFC West titles. So it was the shock of the NFL when they finished 2025 with a 6-11 record and missed the playoffs. It marked the first time Jones was at home during the playoffs, as Kansas City hadn’t missed the playoffs since 2014.

The Broncos went 2-0 against the Chiefs last season, though it should be noted that Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was absent from their Christmas Day meeting after tearing his ACL and LCL on Dec. 14. Mahomes is 13-2 against Denver in his career.
