Jayden Daniels and the Washington Commanders had a tough game in Week 2, as they lost to the Green Bay Packers, 27-18 on Thursday night.
The Packers defense looks like the best in the NFL, and they made it very difficult on Daniels, who finished with 200 yards and two touchdowns.
However, he was hit all throughout the night, and was sacked four times. During the game, he was brought down on a controversial play that could have been called a hip-drop tackle, but it wasn’t called.
Over the weekend, he had an MRI on his knee, and Commanders coach Dan Quinn is going to speak on the injury on Monday afternoon.

The Commanders understand how vital Daniels is to the franchise, as him joining the team last year single-handedly change the direction of this team. They weren’t looked at as a playoff contender last year, but they made it all the way to the NFC Championship game before losing to the eventual champion Philadelphia Eagles.
During the off-season, the team made it an added emphasis to bring in guys who are capable of blocking for him and keeping him upright. The big move was for Laremy Tunsil, who is one of the best left tackles in all of the NFL.
One of the concerns on Daniels as he entered the NFL was how would his body hold up against the physicality. He can be downright devastating when he is running the ball, but he doesn’t have the biggest frame to handle hits like a Josh Allen type quarterback.
For now, the fact that Daniels stayed in the game is definitely a positive thing, but the team will still be very cautious when it comes to its franchise quarterback.
If Daniels is out for any amount of time, the Commanders do have a veteran in Marcus Mariota who can do a lot of what offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury wants his quarterbacks to be able to do. Last season, he played in three games, going 34-of-44 for 364 yards and four touchdowns. He is in his 11th year in the NFL, and can provide the team some stability from the back-up quarterback.
The press conference Monday is going to answer a lot of the questions on what Daniels’ status is moving forward. The Commanders will be back home in Week 3 as they host Geno Smith and the Las Vegas Raiders.
