Costco fans brace yourselves — a longtime favorite is about to disappear from shelves.
The Seattle-area based superstore has stopped producing its two Kirkland Signature brand beers — with stock is expected to completely fizzle out within a matter of weeks, VinePair reported.
Costco first partnered with the Pacific Northwest’s popular Deschutes Brewery back in 2024 — producing the Kirkland Signature Helles-Style Lager and Kirkland Signature Vintage Ale.
“The beer is a pale gold in the glass; it is slightly sweet, lightly hopped, malty and yeasty, well made with a great body to it, and has a nice crisp finish,” Costco Wine Blog said of the Kirkland Signature Helles-Style Lager when it was released.
The lager was sold for a little over $1 per can at $13.99 per 12-pack. It even earned honors from The World Beer Cup, picking up a silver medal in 2025 and a bronze medal in 2026.
Intended to be a higher-end offering, the Kirkland Signature Vintage Ale goes for $7.99 a bottle.
Deschutes Brewery initially confirmed to Fox Business that their partnership with Costco was coming to an end.
“We’re so grateful for Costco’s trust in Deschutes to bring our award-winning beer to their members at such a great value,” the company told the outlet.
“We’ve reached the end of our volume commitment and, therefore, the program is winding down. We’ve been overwhelmed by the outpouring of support for the beer from Costco members since the announcement. The feedback on the beer has been exceptional, and it’s clear that the beer has built a fanbase across the U.S. and internationally,” the statement read.
Costco’s Kirkland Signature brand is big business for the chain.
In its 2025 annual report, Costco reported that Kirkland brought in $90 billion in sales for the company, making up a third of its reported total sales of $269.9 billion
Alcohol sales at Costco stores vary from state to state. In California and Arizona, state law requires that non-members be permitted to access the premises to buy alcohol.
