A dachshund’s remarkably nonchalant reaction after spilling black paint all over the carpet has left social media users in hysterics—though it’s safe to say his owner was far less amused by the incident.
Footage of the messy aftermath was shared on the dog’s dedicated TikTok account, @slinkyandwoody, centering on Woody, a dachshund whose curiosity appears to have gotten the better of him. The clip starts by showing a clear view of the damage: a large puddle of black paint soaking into a gray carpet. Moments later, the camera pans to reveal the likely culprit standing nearby, seemingly unfazed by the chaos he caused.
The owner, from the U.K, explained in the video that incident unfolded when someone arrived at the front door and Woody rushed downstairs to investigate. In the process of being so alert, he knocked over a tub of black paint, spilling it directly onto the carpet. To make matters worse, the dachshund managed to tread through the paint, trailing dark paw prints along the staircase too.
Since it was posted on February 28, the video has quickly gone viral. At the time of writing, it has amassed more than 398,600 views and over 30,800 likes on TikTok, with thousands of users sharing and commenting on the clip.

During the clip, the owner can be heard confronting the dog, asking: “What have you got to say for yourself?” Woody, however, appeared unconcerned, as he remained calming in place and offered no visible sign of remorse.
Despite the damage—significant enough that the carpet now needs to be replaced—Woody’s laid-back demeanor became the highlight of the video. The caption accompanying the post jokes that the dachshund “couldn’t care less” about what he’d done, a sentiment many viewers seem to agree with based on his relaxed posture and expression.
In a follow-up shared online, the owner explained that the damage caused by the spill went beyond cosmetic concerns. The section of carpet affected by the paint had to be completely cut out and removed. He noted that “the smell was so strong and it wasn’t drying,” leaving replacement as the only viable option. Despite the upheaval, Woody still appeared completely unbothered by the situation.
In the weeks since the clip gained traction, TikTok users have flooded the comments section—more than 430 comments so far—with many rushing to Woody’s defense and insisting on his innocence.
One comment reads: “I’m afraid to tell you, the jury has come back with a unanimous verdict of not guilty. My client is now free to go.”
Another TikTok user wrote: “I’m sorry but you’ve fully got the wrong guy.”
While another added: “Look at that face… how could you possibly think it was him.”
Others leaned into the humor of the situation, with one person quipping: “Are you sure those aren’t your footprints?”
It seems that Woody’s accidental mishap has transformed a frustrating household disaster into a source of widespread amusement—proving once again that dogs, even when caught red-pawed, rarely struggle to win over the internet.
