There will finally be a resolution to the Dallas Cowboys’ ongoing contract saga with kicker Brandon Aubrey.

Conflicting reports have emerged on exactly how much the three-time All-Pro kicker is looking for on his next contract, and ESPN’s Todd Archer reported weeks ago that his new deal could be worth as much as $10 million per year.

Some are convinced the 30-year-old Aubrey wants to be the highest-paid kicker in the NFL, though he and his wife both took to social media to deny any such thing.

The Cowboys placed a second-round restricted free agent tender on Aubrey earlier in the offseason, meaning he can still sign with other teams, and if Dallas doesn’t match that offer, it would gain a second-round pick in return.

The deadline for Aubrey to sign with another team is coming up, which means the Cowboys will soon know whether or not they need to scour the free-agent market for another placekicker or not.

“Cowboys restricted free agent kicker Brandon Aubrey has until Friday to sign an offer sheet with another team,” ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on Thursday. “If he doesn’t, Dallas retains his rights for the 2026 season. With time running out and no offer forthcoming, Aubrey now looks destined to remain with Dallas in 2026.”

Aubrey is one of the most accurate kickers in the NFL.

His 36 field-goal makes were fourth-most in the league last season, and he’s made 88.2% of his kicks in his three years in Dallas. Since 2023, no kicker in the NFL has made more field goals than Aubrey (112), and his 126 made extra points is the second-most during that span.

Aubrey is also 35 of 44 on field goals 50 yards or longer in his career, and his 14 field goals of 50 yards or longer in 2024 is an NFL record.
