Sean “Diddy” Combs’ twin daughters, Jessie and D’Lila Combs, reflected on the loss of mother Kim Porter on Mother’s Day.
Sharing an emotional tribute to Porter, who passed away at age 47 in 2018, via Instagram on Sunday, May 11, Jessie and D’Lila, both 18, wrote of how difficult the last few years have proven.
“These last couple years have been sooooo extremely difficult without you by our side,” the siblings wrote via their joint account on the social media platform. “We really wish you were here for these years that we begin to grow and start to mature into young ladies.”
Diddy, whose New York City trial following his September 2024 arrest on charges of sex trafficking among other offences will draw opening arguments on Monday, May 12, shared three children with Porter: Jessie, D’Lila and Christian Combs, 27. (Diddy’s trial commenced on May 5, with the music mogul pleading not guilty to all charges and denying all allegations made against him.)
Jessie and D’Lila included a throwback photo of their late mother in their Sunday post that showed Porter pregnant, smiling for the camera as she stood beside a decorated Christmas tree. The siblings’ post also detailed how much they miss their mother. “Dear mommy, You were the best mommy anyone could’ve ever had and we are so blessed that god chose you to be our mommy,” the twins wrote. “We miss you so very much every single day and we wish you could be here with us today.”
The post continued, “We are going to follow in your footsteps and always make you proud. I hope you are up there celebrating this beautiful day with your mommy and grandma we miss you all so much!!! Happy Mothers Day to our Queen.🕊️❤️.”
Porter’s death was confirmed in January 2019, with the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office stating that she died as a result of lobar pneumonia. She and Diddy, 55, split in 1999 as they battled child support for Christian, however reconciled in 2003 and welcomed Jessie and D’Lila three years later.
Porter and Diddy split for good in 2007.
Diddy’s trial began with jury selection and the rapper appeared in court in a sweater over a white collared shirt with grey pants, per the Associated Press. (Judge Arun Subramanian previously said that Diddy could wear casual clothing for the duration of the trial rather than his jail uniform.)
Prior to voir dire (preliminary juror examinations) also beginning on Monday, Diddy turned down a plea deal that might have shortened a potential prison sentence if he agreed to plead guilty. When the judge asked Diddy on May 1 if he rejected the prosecution’s offer, Diddy replied, “Yes, I do.”
Diddy, who is also facing charges of racketeering conspiracy and transportation to engage in prostitution, of both which he has denied, was arrested last year after numerous accusers came forward with allegations of sexual assault.
In November 2023, Diddy’s ex-girlfriend Cassie filed a lawsuit against him, alleging that he sexually and physically abused her during their relationship, which lasted off and on from 2007 to 2018. Diddy denied her claims, and the duo settled out of court one day later.
In May 2024, CNN published a surveillance video from 2016 that showed Diddy kicking and grabbing Cassie, 38, in a hotel. The rapper later apologized in an Instagram video, saying, “My behavior on that video is inexcusable. I take full responsibility for my actions in that video. “I was disgusted then when I did it. I’m disgusted now. … I’m not asking for forgiveness. I’m truly sorry.”
