President Donald Trump has responded after two staff members of the Israeli embassy in Washington, D.C., were shot and killed on Wednesday evening.

“These horrible D.C. killings, based obviously on antisemitism, must end, NOW!” Trump wrote in a post on his Truth Social website early Thursday.

“Hatred and Radicalism have no place in the USA. Condolences to the families of the victims. So sad that such things as this can happen! God Bless You ALL!”

The victims, a man and a woman, were leaving an event at the Capital Jewish Museum when the suspect approached a group of people and opened fire, Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela Smith.

The suspect, identified as 30-year-old Elias Rodriguez of Chicago, began chanting “free, free Palestine” when he was taken into custody, Smith said.
