Things need to change for the Cleveland Cavaliers, but do they tear everything down this offseason after the embarrassment that was the Eastern Conference final sweep by the New York Knicks?
Donovan Mitchell is the ace of the team, but if Cleveland doesn’t believe the soon-to-be 30-year-old can take them to the NBA Finals, it might be their last chance to pull the trigger on a blockbuster trade before committing their future to the guard.
If the Cavaliers did decide to trade the “Spida,” where would he go? Here are my top three destinations.

Houston Rockets
The Rockets are desperate for offense. Houston thought getting Kevin Durant would be the special ingredient that turned them into a title contender, but the season ended with them getting beaten up by a Los Angeles Lakers team without Luka Doncic.
Donovan Mitchell might not do anything but hurt their future outlook even more, but the current Houston team seems to have already reached its ceiling.
Atlanta Hawks
How about a superstar duo of Jalen Johnson and Donovan Mitchell? The Hawks have shown they aren’t afraid to swing big, and Mitchell is a player who could blend beautifully with the emerging Johnson.
Miami Heat
Miami will do anything for anyone resembling a superstar. He is someone you can expect to put up big points and make the All-Star Game if he is healthy. Mitchell is a legitimate top-10 to 15 player in the sport today.
The Heat would try to pair Mitchell and Bam Adebayo as the team’s superstar nucleus, then build out from there, likely needing to trade most of their draft capital to get the Cavs ace.
Would that make the Heat a legitimate contender in the East? Probably not, and we’d be back to the drawing board in a year or two, wondering when the Heat will finally land their next big franchise-changing talent.
