Drew McIntyre’s first challenger in his current reign as the Undisputed WWE Champion has been revealed. The “Saturday Night’s Main Event” headliner in Montreal featured a fatal four-way to determine the No. 1 contender at “Royal Rumble 2026.” Sami Zayn outlasted Randy Orton, Trick Williams, and Damian Priest to secure his shot at the Undisputed WWE Championship.
Zayn was a massive hometown crowd favorite, and the fans were sent home on a high note. He won the fatal four-way match after catching Priest with a Helluva Kick. Zayn will challenge McIntyre on Jan. 31 in Riyadh. He has a strong fan base in Saudi Arabia and figures to be a significant crowd favorite during that show as well.

Zayn’s History with McIntyre
Zayn has crossed paths with McIntyre several times since “The Scottish Warrior’s” second run in WWE started. Zayn hasn’t been able to defeat McIntyre in singles competition. That fact will likely be mentioned as part of the storyline leading up to “Royal Rumble.”
Over the past few weeks, Zayn has shifted his focus to becoming a world champion for the first time in his WWE run. His WWE United States Championship reign in 2025 gave Zayn some added momentum. Zayn garnered praise for his title matches against Rey Fenix, Carmelo Hayes, Ilja Dragunov, and others during his open challenges.
