ESPN’s Tim McManus and Jeremy Fowler dropped a bomb in the middle of the Philadelphia Eagles offseason a few weeks ago.

The reporters published a scathing report on ESPN.com about Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts and how he’s not well liked inside the locker room and how the team blames him for much of what went wrong last season.

Some of what they wrote, like the tension between Hurts and star receiver A.J. Brown, was already common knowledge.

But other parts, like how Hurts clashed with a lot of former offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo’s play calls, and how his teammates were frustrated at Hurts calling audibles and changing to much more conservative plays, was new information.

The takeaway most fans got from the report was that Hurts is on thin ice and the team could move on from him if things don’t change soon.

While speaking to reporters on Tuesday ahead of the 2026 NFL draft, general manager Howie Roseman was asked what he thought about the report and if there was any truth to Hurts being on the hot seat.

“Yeah, I have seen those reports,” Roseman said. “Bob [Lange] and our PR staff do a great job of showing us what we need to see. I would say that we have some faults. One is not being direct and honest with our players and the conversations with our players. So, for us, if we have any issue with any of our players, we talk to them directly.

“From my perspective, from Nick’s perspective, from Jeffrey’s perspective, we’re not hiding behind anything. We will talk to our players directly. And I think that it’s unfair. It’s unfair to have these articles written. But I understand it’s also what sells at this point. So, um, yeah. I think it’s unfortunate.”

Though he gave a prototypical PR-curated answer, what Roseman didn’t do is deny that Hurts was at the center of turmoil in the team’s locker room.

He also didn’t deny that Hurts is under a microscope after firing Patullo and replacing him with Sean Mannion, or that the team could move on from the $55 million QB if the 2026 season repeats the pattern of 2025.
