Though many expected the Miami Dolphins to be big sellers at the trade deadline, they only shipped one player out. Star linebacker Jalaen Phillips was sent to the Philadelphia Eagles for a third-round pick, and he has seemingly taken a shot at his former team following his arrival in Philly.

Phillips is one of the best pass rushers in the league, despite only having three sacks. He should immediately bolster the Eagles’ defense. With Philadelphia wanting to repeat, they landed a huge player in the former Dolphins edge rusher.
Phillips has been known to be one of the biggest gentlemen in the NFL, though he might have unknowingly taken a shot at the team that drafted him.
Phillips has been interviewed plenty in the course of his arrival to the Eagles, but he let out a simple comment that speaks volumes to his current situation.
When the former Dolphins defender was asked about his excitement to be in Philadelphia, he stated the trade is:
“The greatest thing that’s happened to me in my whole life.”

It is hard not to understand why Phillips is so excited. He was with the Dolphins, who are currently 2-7 and are headed for a complete reset in 2026. Now, he is on a 6-2 team that just won the Super Bowl.
Again, Phillips may not have realized it, but his excitement is a bit of a dig at his former team. The Dolphins are a struggling organization, and any player that would have been sent to a contender from Miami may have shared the same sentiment that the linebacker currently does.
The Eagles are poised to return to the playoffs and are currently a heavy favorite to return to the Super Bowl. With Phillips in tow, that might be far easier.
