This Sunday’s slate of NFL games featured a rematch of last season’s Super Bowl between the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs.

It was an opportunity for the Chiefs to prove that they’re still a prime championship contender after losing to the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 1. But they instead lost by three points and fell to a 0-2 record in the new season.

On a day in which teams across the league put up a boatload of points, this game was something of a defensive struggle. Philly quarterback Jalen Hurts attempted just 22 passes, completing 15 of them for 101 yards, and his only touchdown came on a one-yard run midway through the fourth quarter.

Fans watching the game may have caught some trash talk toward the end between Hurts and Kansas City defensive lineman Chris Jones.

Jones yelled, “You didn’t even have 100 yards.”

Hurts responded with, “We won the f******* game. Shut your a** up.”

Some have dogged Hurts for being a Super Bowl-winning quarterback despite putting up stats that are somewhat pedestrian. Last season, as he powered the Eagles to the world championship, he threw for 2,903 yards and 18 touchdowns, which are numbers that didn’t exactly cause people to raise their eyebrows.

Nick Sirianni’s crew won by playing old-school pound-and-ground football. They had arguably the NFL’s best defense and one of its best offensive lines, and running back Saquon Barkley had a season for the ages. Barkley, whom they snagged from the New York Giants last offseason, became the ninth player to rush for 2,000 yards in a single season while scoring 13 rushing touchdowns and two more in the air.

Barkley had 88 rushing yards and one touchdown versus the Chiefs. But once again, A.J. Brown, the team’s biggest threat in the air, was quiet with just five catches for 27 yards. He had only one reception for eight yards in Week 1.

Philly is now 2-0 this season, but it will have three more tough games in the next three weeks against the Los Angeles Rams, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Denver Broncos.

Meanwhile, the Chiefs are in trouble, and it isn’t just because of their record. They’re without wide receiver Rashee Rice, who is serving a six-game suspension to start the year, and wideout Xavier Worthy was out on Sunday due to a shoulder injury he suffered in Week 1.

Fortunately, there is reportedly a good chance Worthy returns to action next week when the Chiefs take on the New York Giants in East Rutherford, N.J.
