South Bank
Over 90,000 revellers are expected at South Bank where, in addition to the fireworks, drone displays will take place at 9pm and 11pm.

The top viewing locations at South Bank include the Clem Jones Promenade, the Cultural Forecourt, Riverside Green and River Quay.

South Bank will be fenced off, with access at 13 entry points. Streets Beach and other water zones close at 5pm on December 31.

Banned items include alcohol, liquids apart from water in sealed bottles, pets, drones, scooters, bikes, tents, weapons, flags and laser pointers.

By entering, you consent to bag inspections and random metal detection inspections.

If travelling to South Bank, be aware of major road closures affecting Little Stanley Street, Russell Street, Grey Street, Tribune Street, Ernest Street and Sidon Street. The underground South Bank car park will be available for pre-booked parking only (book before December 31) and entry and exit times will be limited. Extra trains, buses and ferries are provided and free, but check the Translink website before you go.

Be advised that attendees at Riverfire fireworks in the CBD in September reported crowd crushes and long delays to public transport.

Elsewhere
Other vantage points for the Lord Mayor’s Fireworks include Kangaroo Point Cliffs and Captain Burke Park in Kangaroo Point (be early); Wilson’s Outlook Reserve Park in New Farm; and Dock Street (near the Maritime Museum) in South Brisbane.

Because Brisbane is hilly, you can also get a good view a fair way out of town. Try the Camp Hill Bowls Club in Seven Hills; Highgate Hill Park near the 1960 apartment block Torbreck; Eildon Hill Reservoir in Wilston; and the Mount Coot-tha Lookout.
