General Hospital star Rena Sofer and her family are packing up and moving out of Los Angeles.
“We’ve been in LA for almost 35 years and now it’s time for me and @sbookstaver to go,” Sofer, 56, wrote via Instagram on Monday, August 4, referring to husband Sanford Bookstaver. “Yes, I’m getting emotional. I met and had my children in LA, met the man of my dreams and created an incredible life there.”
She added, “I had amazing success in the biz and made all my lifelong friend, who I will miss desperately. Most of all my BFF @arinacabral and my brother @davidsofer53 !!! Thank you LA for being you. And now, on to quieter and calmer times. Now we are off in our @rivianofficial with our 5 dogs in the back to our new life!!!”
Sofer, who has played Lois Cerullo on General Hospital on and off since 1993 and had a lengthy run as Quinn on The Bold and the Beautiful, got married to Bookstaver in 2003. While they divorced in 2017, the pair reconnected in 2019. (Sofer and Bookstaver share daughter Avalon, and she is also mom to daughter Rosabel from her first marriage to GH costar Wally Kurth.)
Sofer and Bookstaver renewed their wedding vows in May 2024.
“This weekend on what would have been our 21st wedding anniversary, I got to Re-Marry my best friend @sbookstaver once again,” Sofer wrote via Instagram at the time. “The journey we are about to begin is the most exciting adventure, in a new state and town, but most thrilling is that we get to do it together as husband and wife!”
Sofer further noted that their three-year separation was “humbling and heartbreaking, but vital to us finding each other again.”
“The love I have for you now is the foundation of my life,” she concluded. “I can’t imagine another moment NOT walking through life with you hand in hand and our hearts entwined. You are the love of my life, and it’s not “oops we did it again” but I’m so grateful we did it again!”
Bookstaver echoed Sofer’s sentiments in his own Instagram tribute.
“We were divorced for a few years, spent time apart working on ourselves, and then came back together stronger than ever. I remarried my best friend and soulmate again,” he said. “Life with you has never been better, and I’m the luckiest man alive to get to spend the rest of my life with you @rena.sofer. Here’s the a brand new lifetime together and to all@of our new adventures. I love you more than anything in the world.”
