The streaky Boston Bruins (20-16-1, 41 points) finish off a five-game homestand on Tuesday night, taking a three-game losing slide into their matchup with the Montreal Canadiens (19-12-5, 43 points) at TD Garden.

The Bruins, who have had streaks of seven consecutive wins as well as six straight losses this season, dropped their third in a row on Sunday night as the visiting Ottawa Senators built an early 3-0 lead and cruised to a 6-2 victory. David Pastrňák scored a power-play goal with 53 seconds left in the first period to make it a 3-1 game, but by the time Charlie McAvoy lit the lamp with 5:24 remaining in the game, it made the deficit 5-2. 

Oliver Kapanan had a goal and an assist on Sunday night, but Montreal came out on the short end of a 4-3 shootout decision at the Pittsburgh Penguins after winning the front end of a back-to-back home-and-home. Ivan Demidov also scored for the Canadiens, and Noah Dobson tied the game 4:04 into the third period. 

Boston won the first meeting between the Atlantic Division rivals, claiming a 3-2 win at Montreal on Nov. 15. Morgan Geekie leads the Bruins with 25 goals while Pastrňák has 14, with each player logging 39 points thus far. Jeremy Swaman is 14-9-1 in 25 starts in net with a .906 save percentage and 2.78 goals against average. Cole Caufield has 17 goals for the Habs, while Kapanen has 11, and captain Nick Suzuki leads the club with 40 points. Jakub Dobes is 12-5-3 in 20 games and 19 starts, notching an .894 save percentage and 2.90 GAA.
