Tehran has warned it will attack electrical plants in the Middle East if U.S. President Donald Trump acts on his threats to strike Iran’s power stations, potentially jeopardizing interlinked electrical and water supplies across the region.

Trump said on Saturday U.S. forces would “obliterate” Iran’s power plants if the Strait of Hormuz, a vital waterway for global oil and gas exports, is not fully reopened within two days. The president’s deadline will expire shortly before 8 p.m. ET on Monday.

Iran’s semi-official Fars news agency then published a list of nearly a dozen Gulf and Jordanian sites playing a “vital role in meeting the basic needs of the region’s population and industries,” including a nuclear power facility in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
