U.S. Vice President JD Vance has condemned Iran for blocking vessels through the Strait of Hormuz after an American blockade came into effect.

Vance told Fox News that if Iranians “engage in economic terrorism” then the U.S. will ensure that “no Iranian ships are getting out either”, adding that “two could play at that game.”

Vance’s comments come as US Central Command said a U.S. blockade that started Monday would apply to any ships entering or departing Iranian ports or coastal areas.

Iran has criticized the U.S. blockade around its ports as a “grave violation” of its sovereignty amid the fragile ceasefire as talks are expected in Washington on Tuesday between Lebanese and Israeli ambassadors to the U.S.
