If there’s one thing Jennifer Lopez is gonna do, it’s sell a movie.
Lopez and Brett Goldstein are doing such a good job of selling “Office Romance,” their forthcoming Netflix romantic comedy, that people suspect they’re dating in real life.
According to PEOPLE, their chemistry is real, but the romance is purely fictional.
“Her flirty energy with Brett is genuine,” an unnamed source told PEOPLE. “She really likes him.” The source added Lopez is “in a great place on her own right now, though, and doesn’t need a relationship to feel happy.”
J.Lo has been a rom-com queen for 25 years, so Goldstein (“Ted Lasso,” “Shrinking”) wrote “Office Romance” with J.Lo and only J.Lo in mind.
“He wrote this script for me,” Lopez told Jimmy Kimmel last week. “He was a fan, I guess, before, and I was a fan of his from ‘Ted Lasso,’ which people knew I was a fan of ‘Ted Lasso.’ […] He also sent a note that said, ‘You’re at the top of our list. It’s a list of one. If you don’t do the money, we’re not making it.'”
An old clip of Goldstein, who starred as Roy Kent on the Apple TV phenomenon “Ted Lasso,” has resurfaced during his and Lopez’s “Office Romance” press run. In the clip, Goldstein commented on Lopez’s marriage to Ben Affleck in July 2022.
“I believed that, one day, I would marry J.Lo, and after last night, I was like, ‘Maybe all hope is dead,'” Goldstein said in the clip. “So, I don’t know anymore. Love is love, but sometimes, they marry Ben Affleck.”
Lopez and Affleck filed for divorce in August 2024, and Lopez commented on her relationship status with Kimmel — confirming she’s single and plans to remain single for the foreseeable future, declaring, “I should have done it sooner!”
“Office Romance” premieres on Netflix next Friday, June 5. Watch the official trailer below.
