A frat brother of James “Jimmy” Gracey, a University of Alabama student who has gone missing in Spain, has spoken out about the last time he was seen by his friends
Gracey, 20, from Illinois, has not been seen since around 3:00 a.m. on Monday, at the Shoko nightclub in the city of Barcelona, his mother Therese Marren Gracey has said. Catalonia’s regional police told Newsweek it is looking into the “possible disappearance.”
Gracey’s fraternity brother Cavin McLay said Gracey was out with friends but “unfortunately, he was separated from the rest of the group later into the night.”
“And that was the last time we’ve heard from him,” he told Alabama news broadcaster ABC 33/40.
Gracey never returned to his Airbnb, his mother said in a Facebook post, and he was reported missing at around 1:00 a.m. on Tuesday, police told Newsweek.
McLay, who said Gracey’s friends are on the ground in Barcelona handing out flyers and looking for him, told how Gracey is “the guy that’s always there when someone needs it we’re heartbroken and just remaining hopeful that we find him safe.”
Gracey’s aunt, Beth O’Reilly, told ABC 33/40 that her nephew is “a kind, responsible, and devoted son and brother,” adding that it is “completely out of character for him not to check in.”
This is a developing story – more to follow.
